Tea Tables belong to a collection of forms that inhabit the blurred zone where designed objects become art and vice versa, sometimes seeming to be representational or functional and sometimes not. They are one-of-a-kind or limited edition pieces sculpted from pulped post-consumer recycled paper and natural pigments.
Our latest Tea Tables look just like concrete, but are as light as paper should be. Made from 100% recycled material and natural pigments that will not fade in the sun, they are also coated for resistance to moisture with a non-toxic water-based matt finish.
A custom collection of Paperscapes tables was made for the New York City Public Art Fund’s annual event in 2016, in collaboration with Eric Zimmerman and Nathalie Pozzi. The “pawns” were a part of a human-scale game, called 16 Tons, designed by the couple for the event. The tables remained as part of the permanent collection of the New York City Public Art Fund. They also debuted at Mint London’s White Canvas Show during the London Design Festival in fall of 2016.
